Sport
Sport is a fantastic way for children to develop physically, mentally and socially. At the Old Vicarage School we like to achieve the best results we can in all that we do. Sport is no exception. We take part in competitive fixtures with other schools and in local tournaments as regularly as possible. We rely on the talents of the children, on encouragement, and excellent coaching as well as on the support of parents.
At the Old Vicarage School we engage in many sports to equip the children with the skills they will need at their next school and beyond. The sports include: Rugby, Hockey, Netball, Soccer, Cross-Country Running, Swimming, Tennis, Badminton, Athletics, Cricket, Rounders and Golf. The School aims to play as often as we can as many competitive fixtures with other preparatory schools, in varying age ranges as possible. Transport is supplied be a local firm Benx Bavarian who generously allow us use of their minibus.
Sporting endeavours and activities hold up a mirror to real life. The world is a competitive place. You have to strive to achieve which takes effort, ability, endurance and skill, everything that is required when playing sport. Sport is a tremendously social activity and can give its participants many life lessons and a tremendous sense of achievement.
Not everyone sees themselves as ‘sporty’. However, this should not hold them back. We offer something for everyone and a sport to suit each individual. Exercise is essential and we always encourage the children to strive towards ‘personal best’ performances on the field of play or in the pool. We try to find an enjoyable and rewarding sport for every child at the Old Vicarage School.
