Nursery

The Old Vicarage School welcomes Nursery age children from 3 years old as their point of entry to the School. It is open during term times, and additionally operates a holiday Club in July and at Christmas. Our Nursery is currently unable to accept children who are not joining the Old Vicarage School.

Childhood is not a rehearsal. You can be assured of close, personal attention at all times. Small classes and carefully selected, dedicated staff ensure that your child’s progress is consistent and often exceeds their age predicted ability.

The Nursery class is very much part of the Old Vicarage School family. The children wear the same uniform and play with older children, building upon the school’s nurturing environment. This inclusive setting helps to achieve a smooth transition to Reception.

The Nursery Classroom is spacious and bright, furnished with natural materials, plants and comfortable rugs and cushions. The children have an art room where they can make great masterpieces and enjoy messy play. Outside in the mature grounds you will find our very special ‘Gruffalo Woods’. Equipped with wellies and wet weather clothing the children visit the woodland and mature gardens regularly. All children benefit from visits by specialist Music and PE staff and receive a weekly French lesson. There is a large astro turf for learning PE skills, including Hockey, Football, Netball and Athletics. In the garden there is a wooden play area for imaginative games with friends.

“The Old Vicarage School is highly successful in meeting its aims to unlock the potential in every pupil. Leadership and Management of the Early Years is Excellent”
