Quiz Club Finals 2025

Quiz Club is a national competition for schools in Science, Maths and General Knowledge. This year we entered 4 teams and out of the hundreds of national entries 2 of our teams qualified for the finals! We thought being placed 3rd and 4th in our region was outstanding, but now the children had the chance to prove their knowledge in front of 30 other finalists in the building at Oxford University.

On Friday 4th July our teams placed 16th and 24th overall. We are hugely proud of all the children in Year 3 to 6 who competed. A fabulous day out for them and their parents.

Engaging primary school children in general knowledge quizzes offers a multitude of developmental benefits that extend far beyond simply memorising facts. These competitions provide a dynamic and enjoyable platform for learning, transforming the acquisition of knowledge into an exciting challenge rather than a chore. By participating, children are motivated to explore a wider array of subjects, from history and geography to science and current events, fostering a natural curiosity that transcends the confines of the standard curriculum. This broad exposure not only enriches their understanding of the world but also significantly enhances their memory retention and recall abilities, as they actively engage with information in a fun, low-pressure environment.
Moreover, quizzes are instrumental in cultivating essential cognitive skills. Children learn to think critically, process information rapidly, and make quick decisions under a friendly competitive atmosphere. They develop problem-solving strategies, whether it’s through logical deduction or collaborative teamwork. Beyond academics, these events are powerful tools for building confidence and self-esteem. Successfully answering questions, even simple ones, provides a sense of accomplishment, encouraging children to believe in their intellectual capabilities. The team-based format often promotes valuable social skills, teaching cooperation, communication, and sportsmanship. Ultimately, general knowledge quizzes instill a lifelong love for learning, preparing young minds not just for future academic pursuits but also for navigating an increasingly complex world with a well-rounded and informed perspective.
