DOUBLE DOUBLE! U9 & U11 Kwik Cricket Winners, 2 years running

We are bursting with pride to be winners of the Midlands ISA U9 and U11 Kwik Cricket Tournament for the second year running! Sport and competitive opportunities are very important to us at OVS and for a small school to keep ‘punching above our weight’ is testament to the hard work of our coaches and the team spirit and sportmanship of the children. Well done team OVS!

Engaging primary school children in inter-school Kwik Cricket tournaments within their region offers a dynamic blend of physical, social, and emotional benefits crucial for their development. Kwik Cricket, with its simplified rules and emphasis on participation, provides an accessible entry point into the sport, promoting physical activity and improving fundamental movement skills like running, throwing, catching, and batting in a fun, fast-paced environment. Beyond the physical, these tournaments are powerful platforms for fostering teamwork and communication. Children learn to collaborate effectively, strategise with their peers, and support one another, understanding that success hinges on collective effort rather than individual brilliance. This collaborative spirit builds strong bonds and teaches them to respect diverse abilities within a team.
Moreover, competing against other schools introduces children to healthy competition, teaching them valuable lessons in sportsmanship, resilience, and managing emotions. They learn to celebrate victories humbly and accept defeats gracefully, understanding that effort and participation are as important as winning. The regional aspect of these tournaments broadens their social horizons, allowing them to interact with children from different schools and communities, fostering a sense of wider sporting community. This exposure helps build confidence, reduces anxieties about new social settings, and encourages a lifelong love for sport and active living. Ultimately, Kwik Cricket tournaments are instrumental in developing well-rounded individuals who are not only physically active but also socially adept, emotionally resilient, and respectful competitors.
